AFTERSHAVE

Hhhmm, you overcame the nerves and got the courage to go for the chop. And surprisingly everyone admired you for it. You felt the freah air on your face, felt rebellious. Now the problem is you at a point where you don’t know what to do with your hair, or lack there of, and you most probably feel like a boy.

Here are a few great ideas…

1. Skin Deep

Remember that cutting your hair enhances all your facial features, good and bad. Make sure you take care of your skin so you can stand out for all the right reasons. Never sleep with your make-up on *clearsthroat*. Drinks lots and lots of water. Alleviate oily foods from your diet. These are just a few things I live by. Oh and obviously, the regular skin regime.

2. Colour Up!

Be fierce, you’ve come this far… Short hair is more interesting worn with colour. Haircolour is an accessory on its own. But remember to use a colour that suits your skin tone.

3. Glam it Up!

Having short hair is like possessing a clean canvas. Don’t be scared to play with accessories. They are another thing that’ll stand out along your facial features when you have short hair. Don’t overdo it though, unless you’re going for the Christmas tree look.

4. Mohawk

Don’t fret. I’m sure you thinking typical Mohawk!!! This is a different adaptation; your sides don’t have to be bald. You can just get it cut shorter than the top strip of hair. Another ‘safe’ way of getting this look is to merely braid the sides and leave the top strip. Frankly, if your hair is in the shape of the Mohawk, flat sides and long in the middle, then voila!!

5. Locks

If you went the natural/afro hair route, twisting things your hair is great. Dreadlocks can also be styled, dyed and accesorised!!

6. Make-Up

Again I say, because your features are enhanced. You need to turn things up a notch. Wearing the right make-up is a key, you won’t be looking like a boy. Highlight those cheeks, lips and eyes, be sure to add colour. But steer clear of the “Bozo the clown” territory!

7. Processed short hair

This is my least favourite simply because it has been overdone. Although keeping hair ethnic has been around for ages, it remains classic and timeless somehow.

8. Wear it with style

Let your personally shine through!!
